Description:
This structured satchel is beautifully crafted from Louis Vuitton's signature Monogram coated canvas complemented by natural vachetta cowhide leather trim, piping, and double rolled top handles. A defining characteristic of this piece is its chunky, polished gold-tone hardware, highlighted by two prominent exterior gusseted pockets on the front featuring secure push-lock closures. The bag secures with a robust two-way top zipper that opens to a soft, beige Alcantara fabric-lined interior containing a single flat slip pocket. Heavy metallic stud anchors and decorative leather chap patches give it a uniquely stylized, hardware-heavy silhouette.
History:
Designed during Marc Jacobs’ iconic tenure as artistic director, the Manhattan PM originally debuted in 2005. The bag's multi-pocket design and utility hardware directly mirrored the ultra-popular signature styles of Jacobs' independent label from the same era. Marrying early Y2K logomania with street-chic practicality, the Manhattan series became an instant cultural staple of the mid-2000s it-bag era. It was originally produced in two sizes—this smaller PM model and a larger GM variation featuring an added buckle strap—before eventually being discontinued and later reimagined by the house as a modernized reissue style in 2017.
